Why Register with NCAA and NAIA Eligibility Centers

The NCAA Eligibility Center and NAIA Eligibility Center (IncredEL) are official governing bodies responsible for certifying the academic credentials and amateur status of high school student-athletes. Registering with these centers is a mandatory requirement for competing at the college varsity level.

1. What the Eligibility Centers Do

The clearinghouse fulfills two essential roles during the college recruiting process:

• Academic Certification: Confirms that an athlete has completed the required distribution of core academic units, achieved the required Core GPA, and graduated high school.
• Amateurism Certification: Ensures an athlete has maintained amateur standing (e.g., has not signed with professional agents or accepted unauthorized athletic compensation).

2. Why You Must Register Early

Delaying registration can cause unnecessary roadblocks in your recruiting process:

• Official Visits & Offers: NCAA Division I and II programs, as well as NAIA programs, cannot host you on an official campus visit or issue a National Letter of Intent (NLI) / official scholarship offer until you are registered in their respective clearinghouse.
• Seamless Evaluation: College coaches prioritize athletes who have already completed administrative prerequisites, showing readiness to finalize recruitment.

3. Recommended Registration Timeline

1. Freshman/Sophomore Year: Create a free Profile Page account with the NCAA/NAIA to receive updates and monitor requirements.
2. Junior Year: Upgrade to an Academic Certification account before taking official college visits. Have your high school counselor upload your official transcript.
3. Senior Year: Complete the final amateurism questionnaire upon graduation and request your counselor to submit your final official transcript showing graduation confirmation.
